Content Creation: It's Easier Than You Think
Creating content doesn't have to be as challenging as it seems. While it does require preparation, motivation, and execution, there are many tricks to help inspire and organize the process. Here’s how we dive into content creation at Mariah Berry Social Studio:
Capture Your Ideas
Ever find yourself struck by a sudden burst of creativity and not know how to execute your idea? That's the perfect moment to start creating, regardless of how you look or where you are.
When inspiration strikes, jot down your ideas or start filming immediately to capture the raw essence.
Don’t worry if it's not perfect visually. The goal is to keep the idea flowing. Voice memos can also be extremely useful!
Utilize B-Roll
B-roll is supplemental footage that adds depth to your narrative. It can be anything from shots of your environment to actions related to your topic. It usually includes cutaways, close-ups, scenes that provide context or details, background shots, or activities related to the main subject. B-roll helps to enrich the viewer's experience and make the video more engaging by breaking up the monotony of a single shot or angle.
How to Create B-Roll
Identify What You Need: Think about scenes that complement your main footage. What visuals can support your story?
Plan Your Shots: Make a shot list detailing each scene you need to capture. This keeps your filming focused and efficient.
Bulk Create B-Roll: When you have a photoshoot, event, or filming a video, take the opportunity to capture B-Roll.
Focus on Variety: Include a mix of wide, medium, and close-up shots. Consider different angles and perspectives to add visual interest.
Expanding Your Content
With your initial idea and B-roll ready, enhance your social media content with text overlays or a voiceover to guide your audience through your thoughts. Whether you're creating Reels, Instagram Stories, or other video content, B-roll can show behind-the-scenes action, add depth to your narratives, and break up long-form videos.
Start Simple
Take this concept and apply it to your own creative process. Start simple, use what you have, and build from there. Content creation is a journey, and with each step, you'll find new ways to improve and expand your creative process. Don't be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you and your audience. The KEY is to start now and keep evolving!
